Back from vacation!
We arrived back to Oshakati late last night! And today is a national holiday (Namibian Independence Day). So all is pretty quiet around town. Everything is closed and we are just taking it easy, resting since we had quite a long trip. (We drove 2,800 kilometers or 1,750 miles when all was said and done!! Or I should say René drove. I supported him from the passenger seat.) Our vacation was AMAZING! The pics I will post in the next couple of days will not even do our experiences justice! We had a really great time and enjoyed every minute of it! I'm not even sure where to start. But I will give you this bit...... we finally saw some
Elephants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (The elusive desert adapted elephant!) More to come from our vacation very soon.

Can't wait! I love how the elephant is a Tuscan brown!
ReplyDeleteYes, he was rolling in the dirt and spraying it on his back! The dirt near Palmwag (where we saw the elephants) is really red. In Namibia the landscape and colors change so quickly! From looking at all of our pictures you'd think we traveled to twenty different continents! Desert, lush green scenery, moonscapes, huge rocks, mountains, beaches and palm trees, we've seen it all!
ReplyDeleteLOVE elephants too!! Are you guys going on a honeymoon? How will you top this?!?!
ReplyDeleteWe have been referring to it as our "pre-wedding honeymoon." And yes, it would be some kind of trip that would be able to match our recent excursion!
