1. A very typical sight in Northern Namibia - cattle. They are in the fields, on the roads, in the middle of the city. Pastoralism is a way of life here and you can certainly tell.
2. There are two rainy seasons in Namibia - one from Sept-Nov and the other from Jan-March or so. Right now the grass is green but it looks pretty different in the dry season.
3. Namibia does have a pretty good national highway system with paved roads but they only get you to the major spots. Sometimes there is no road at all so most are happy with something like this!
4 & 5. Ah yes! The cuca shops. If you look up Oshakati there will most likely be mention of these gems. They are literally all over the place and have the most hilarious names, as Ashley mentioned previously. We'll try to keep taking pictures of the best ones.
6. This is in our neighbourhood, close to the guest house.
Love the HOT SPOT BAR! Is there a HOT SPOT BAR T shirt or cap? Is that a pool table??
ReplyDeleteNo major cathedral to cool off in? Visiting Italy in the hot humid summer you get a sense of why people would give all their money and come together and build one huge air conditioned (as in cool, huge stone) building.
A refreshing 45 degrees here tomorrow!
